Dick’s Sporting Goods is expanding its supply chain with plans to build a new 800,000-sq.-ft. regional distribution center in Fort Worth, Texas.

Located on an 89.5-acre site within the Risinger/35 Logistics Park, a development by Hillwood, at Risinger Rd. and Old Burleson Rd., the facility will support Dick’s business in Texas and will provide distribution capabilities to more than 100 stores across several states, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to the athletic retailer, it will pursue sustainability initiatives at the new facility such as high-efficiency lighting and HVAC, recycled and environmentally friendly construction materials, energy management systems and recycling programs for corrugate and plastics.

Hillwood, the developer of AllianceTexas, and Hillwood Construction Services, will develop and construct this new project, the company said.

Construction on the facility is scheduled to begin this fall with a groundbreaking, and the building phase is expected to produce more than 800 temporary construction jobs to the area. The facility is expected to open in early 2026 and is estimated to bring 300 new full-time jobs to the region over the next 10 years.

When completed, the new facility will join the retailer’s other distribution centers in Atlanta, Ga.; Conklin, N. Y.; Goodyear, Ariz.; Plainfield, Ind.; and Smithton, Penn.

“We’re thrilled to announce our plans to build and open a distribution center in Fort Worth,” Sean Whitehouse, senior vice president of supply chain at Dick’s Sporting Goods, said in a statement. “This facility will support the rapid growth of our business, including in the state of Texas, and enable more efficient and effective flow of product to athletes whether they shop in-store or online. We’re also excited to play an active role in the Fort Worth community.”

These new plans come months after Dick’s Sporting Goods said it saw footwear and athletic apparel grow in the first quarter as it reported overall better-than-expected results.

In May, the company said overall sales in the quarter increased 6.2 percent to $3.02 billion from $2.84 billion a year earlier and comparable-store sales were up 5.3 percent on top of a 3.6 percent increase in last year’s first quarter. Net income in the period was $275 million, or $3.30 share, down from $305 million, or $3.40 per share, a year earlier.

The company is expected to report its second quarter earnings on Sept. 4.
